I support the idea of correctness for without it there will be sheer chaos. That said, there is correctness for every language variety - as long as an item is systematic and commucicative within a given community, it's correct.

I also found this video difficult to watch however, like many others have suggested we have all been taught at some point that double negatives should not be used. However, the notion of correct and incorrect is hard to grasp here. Many students (and parents) wish for students to be taught the rights and wrongs of the English language and to be able to be 100% confident about when and when not to use certain forms. However, at times it can be a difficult conversation to have to suggest that there isn't always such a clear cut distinction and that forms can be used interchangeably or in different contexts.. correctly. There is no one rule fits all ...

We should be more welcoming of the English language's varieties and stop judging other people's way of using it for as long as this usage is reflective of their identity as peoples of the world, who, like most of us, also aim to create a niche of their own. Embracing diversity is the key!
